World of tank Blitz
Tanks are iconic machines, even today, in spite of the fact that we have nuclear bombs, drones, and all sorts of other inventions that are technically more advanced. However, when it comes to actually conquering objectives on ground and dealing with infantry, tanks are still at the heart of the battle. Hence, tank simulators are very popular in the video games industry.

Defeat your enemies as quickly as possible using tanks

World of Tanks Blitz is a multiplayer arena shooter that’s a more arcade and quick version of the incredibly popular World of Tanks simulator, which has been around for quite a few years. In short, this is a 7-vs-7 co-op battle in which two teams go head-to-head in order to conquer objectives or simply destroy each other until one of the teams is the last one standing.

You get to choose from a variety of tanks from all the great powers of the world, including Russia, Germany and China. On top of that, all of them can be upgraded with new components and improved, although that requires currency, which is earned by winning battles. Thankfully, the matchmaking engine can find you a match in a matter of seconds, even if the game is still in beta at this point.

Decent graphics and simple controls

Although this is not a pure arcade game, the simulation is not on the level of the original game, since it would be a tad tedious, given the nature of the battles. As such, while the projectiles still follow a pretty realistic trajectory, everything else is much easier to manage and control. Besides your tank, it’s also important to keep an eye on your crew as well, although most of this part revolves around using medkits whenever they get injured.

The controls are fairly simple as well, since all you need to do is use WASD to move around, the mouse to aim and shoot, as well as a few other keys if you want to use items or perform other actions. In addition, the graphics are nice as well, although not as detailed as you might expect. This allows more people to enjoy the game, on the other hand, because the system requirements are lower as well.

An addictive action game for semi-casual players

Even if World of Tanks Blitz is not entirely newbie-friendly, it can certainly be approached by almost everyone, provided you go through the tutorial. Hence, it’s a great stepping stone toward more serious simulators, or maybe just a guilty pleasure you can enjoy whenever you have a bit of spare time.

World of Tanks Blitz Destroy Your Enemy

Certain communities are harder to please than others, which is especially true when it comes to cinephiles and gamers. Sometimes it’s because a new episode in the series does not seem to be as good as the previous ones, but other times it’s just stubbornness to go along with change. Old fans turned their nose at Fallout 3 when it first came out, due to the first-person perspective and even the soundtrack. By the time New Vegas was released, everyone pretty much accepted it and moved on.

Be the captain of your own ship and explore the universe

Star Trek Online has to deal with one of the pickiest and hard-to-please fanbases out there, so the developers were certainly quite brave. Thankfully, it turned out alright in regards to lore and general Star Trek trivia, but there are a few other mistakes that may alter your experience. As a whole, on the other hand, the game is worthy of its name, and Trekkies can truly lose themselves for a few hundreds hours.

Although it’s classified as an MMO, don’t expect the same experience as in World of Warcraft. Most of the missions you undertake have to be completed on your own, although given the fact that you are the captain of a spaceship, there are always a few hundred crew members around. Obviously, PVP is also possible later on, but you need good gear to survive such bold endeavors. In order to get gear, you have to grind for quite a bit, which is not a very attractive prospect.

Good graphics and a massive map to explore

As far as the combat is concerned, you are either fighting using your spaceship, or down on the ground using your character. The latter is a bit disappointing, because there’s not much to it, other than clicking on enemies and waiting for their HP bars to drop. On the other hand, the space combat is a bit more exciting, although it’s also repetitive as hell. Still, you get to both pilot and shoot a variety of powerful guns, and there are some interesting maneuvers you can try as well.

From a technical point of view, the graphics look positively decent, especially thanks to the world design. There are many impressive constructions taken right out of the TV series, not to mention all the curious races that populate the universe and the customizable spaceships. The karmic punch comes in the form of bugs, which have a way of annoying you on a regular basis. A great deal of them have been fixed since the game was released, but the work is definitely not over.

A good way to enjoy your favorite fictional universe

All in all, Star Trek Online may not be perfect, but thanks to the original voice actors and extreme attention to lore, it should please most Star Trek fans out there. As a game, on the other hand, it can get pretty repetitive and pointless after a while, especially if you are not into grinding for resources and currency.

Train Simulator is the latest in the long-running railway series. It's available as a standalone game, or a free upgrade for Train Simulator 15.

No changes

Don't expect a huge improvement over Train Simulator 2015. There are some minor enhancements, such as rain on the windscreen, but graphically the game looks very similar, and doesn't look fresh. In terms of controls, it's pretty much unchanged too.

Train Simulator allows you to drive trains along three routes, with 13 locomotives shared between them. Much more is available as premium downloadable content.

Don't touch that dial

Like many simulators, Train Simulator might be daunting to begin with. There are lots of controls and, while everything is documented, it's still a lot to learn. Of course, this is perfect for train enthusiasts, who will delight in the detail. More casual players should note that there is no attempt by the sim to make trains more exciting than they already aren't.

Detailed and realistic, but lacking innovations

While there are no headline improvements, Train Simulator remains as the best in class. It's attention to detail is impressive, and the various routes capture the spirit of their real life counterparts. The simulator tries to be faithful to train driving - so if that doesn't sound exciting, this is not the sim for you. But for fans of trains, this is the one to go for.

Angry Birds Space, the gravitational pull of planets affects your birds' trajectory, making this game much more tactical than ever before. The basic principle of the game remains the same - catapult the Angry Birds at the structures the pigs are sitting in, using the lowest number of birds possible.

In Angry Birds Space, you'll be attacking structures on planets from space, using their gravity to get the perfect trajectory. This Angry birds requires more thought than previous games, and feels much fresher for that.

Graphics and sound

There are 60 levels in Angy Birds Space, including bonus levels that appear as you progress. There's a PC demo for you to try before you buy. The graphics and sound have been improved, meaning Angry Birds Space is the best looking so far in the series. The gameplay changes are fun, but it's still a little easy.
